Feeding cannabis in soil comes down to knowing which phase the plant is in, because the phase decides what goes in the jug. Microbes go in first and keep going monthly. Veg is the base feed until the first flowering signs, then Veg stops and Bloom takes over. In the last 4 to 6 weeks of flower, Incredible Bulk goes on top of Bloom. Most growers finish with a plain-water flush, though some skip it. Here is the whole run, with per-gallon doses.
The Three Layers
Think of the schedule as three layers stacked on each other. Microbes are the foundation and run from start to finish. Veg or Bloom is the main feed, depending on the phase. Incredible Bulk is the finisher for the last stretch of flower. Kelp It Real, Phishy and Vitamin Sea are optional boosters you can run in either phase.
This schedule runs on phases and uses week counts only where our product pages give them. For a plant-specific growing guide, pick cannabis in the plant picker on our feeding schedule page.
Phase Map
- Seedling and early veg. The plant is building roots and first leaves. Feed Microbes first, then a light Veg feed.
- Veg. Stems and leaves. Microbes, Veg and optional boosters.
- Pre-flower stretch. The plant stretches as it prepares to flower. Still Veg until the first flowering signs show.
- Flower. The plant sets and builds flowers. Microbes, Bloom (Veg stops) and optional boosters.
- Finish. The last 4 to 6 weeks before harvest. Bloom plus Incredible Bulk, up to the start of a flush.
- Flush (optional). The last 1 to 2 weeks, inside the finish window. Plain water only.
Photoperiod plants usually start flowering after you change the light schedule, while autoflowering varieties run on their own clock. Strain, light intensity and pot size all move the dates, so watch the plant rather than the calendar.
Doses and Weekly Rhythm
All doses are per US gallon of water. The feeding chart is the source of truth, and the frequency comes from the product pages for potted plants. If the two ever disagree, follow the chart.
- Microbes (step 1, inoculate): 1 to 3 ml per gallon, monthly, start to finish.
- Veg (step 2, feed): base dose is ¼ tbsp per gallon (range ¼ to ½ tbsp), every 3 to 4 weeks, from transplant through pre-flower only.
- Bloom (step 2, feed): base dose is ¼ tbsp per gallon (range ¼ to ½ tbsp), weekly, from the first flowering signs until harvest or until a flush starts.
- Incredible Bulk (finisher): base dose is ¼ tbsp per gallon (spec range ¼ to 4 tbsp), weekly, for the last 4 to 6 weeks of flower or until a flush starts.
- Kelp It Real (step 3, booster): ¼ tsp per gallon, every 2 to 3 weeks, any stage.
- Phishy (step 3, booster): 1 to 5 ml per gallon, weekly, veg and bloom, on its own watering.
- Vitamin Sea (step 3, booster): 5 ml (1 tsp) per gallon, monthly, veg and bloom, applied alone.
Start at the base dose and stay there until you have seen how your plant responds. The ranges come from the feeding chart, which doesn't say when to move up within one. It has no separate seedling dose either, so for young plants use the low end of each range.
Mixing Order and Watering Notes
Mix in this order: water, then Microbes, then the powder (Veg or Bloom). Microbes go in before the powder, not after. A few rules keep the mix working.
- Veg and Bloom need Microbes. Both are built to feed soil biology, and Veg's low nitrogen assumes that biology supplies the rest. In sterile bagged mix with no Microbes, they under-deliver.
- Start Microbes right away. Inoculate at transplant or on day one in a new pot. There is no reason to wait for the soil to settle.
- Phishy stays out of mixes with other mineral fertilizers. It smells like fish and separates a little in the bottle, which is normal. Shake before measuring.
- Vitamin Sea is applied alone. Don't mix it with synthetic fertilizers or sprays, and give it a few days of space from other feeds.
Our product pages give each product a frequency but no day-by-day order for running boosters together, and they don't say which of our other products count as mineral fertilizers for the Phishy rule. The careful way to follow both rules is a separate watering for Phishy and another for Vitamin Sea, apart from the Veg or Bloom jug.
What to Do, Step by Step
- Inoculate at the start. Add Microbes to your first watering after transplant, at 1 to 3 ml per gallon.
- Run Veg through the vegetative phase. Mix Veg at the base dose and feed it every 3 to 4 weeks, with Microbes in the same jug when it falls due.
- Watch for the first flowering signs. Use that moment, not a date, to decide the switch.
- Switch to Bloom and stop Veg. From the first flowering signs, feed Bloom weekly at the base dose. Don't keep feeding Veg alongside it.
- Keep Microbes going monthly through flower, up to any flush.
- Add boosters if you want them. Kelp It Real every 2 to 3 weeks, Phishy weekly and Vitamin Sea monthly are the usual pattern, with Phishy and Vitamin Sea each on their own watering.
- Add Incredible Bulk for the last 4 to 6 weeks. Layer it on top of Bloom. It does not replace Bloom.
- Decide on a flush for the last 1 to 2 weeks. If you flush, stop Incredible Bulk when the flush starts and give the pot plain water only until harvest.
- If you skip the flush, keep to the dose list through harvest.
If a plant shows burnt tips or a sudden darkening, cut back to the base dose or skip a feeding. Start lower next time.
Flush and Harvest Window
Most growers flush with plain water in the final 1 to 2 weeks, and they stop Incredible Bulk when the flush starts. Practice varies, and some growers skip the flush, so the choice is yours.
- If you flush, the pot gets plain water only. Incredible Bulk stops when the flush starts, as its page says. The Bloom page says weekly until harvest and doesn't mention a flush. A flush is plain water, so the flush weeks carry no Bloom.
- If you skip the flush, the dose list runs through harvest.
We don't make claims about what a flush does to the finished flower, and your harvest date is set by the plant, not by this schedule.
Where Growganica Fits
The core of this schedule is three products: Microbes, Veg and Bloom. Incredible Bulk is the finisher for the last stretch of flower. Kelp It Real (a seaweed extract), Phishy (a fish hydrolysate) and Vitamin Sea (a magnesium and trace-mineral concentrate) are optional boosters that each do a different job.
King Krustacean is made for vegetables and fruits, so it isn't part of this schedule. You don't need every booster. Microbes, Veg and Bloom carry the run, and Incredible Bulk covers the finish.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I feed in veg versus flower?
In veg, feed Microbes monthly and Veg every 3 to 4 weeks at the base dose of ¼ tbsp per gallon, with optional boosters. In flower, keep Microbes going monthly, stop Veg and feed Bloom weekly at the base dose of ¼ tbsp per gallon, with the same optional boosters.
When does Bloom start and when do I add the finisher?
Bloom starts at the first flowering signs, not on a calendar date. Veg stops at that point. Incredible Bulk goes on top of Bloom for the last 4 to 6 weeks of flower, weekly, until a flush starts if you flush.
Do I need to flush at the end?
No. Most growers flush with plain water for the final 1 to 2 weeks and stop Incredible Bulk when the flush starts, but practice varies and some growers skip it. If you skip the flush, keep to the dose list through harvest.
